Capacity for Filtering and Retention of Hydrogen Sulfide in Biogas, in Two Types of Organic Substrates (EM-Compost and Lombricompost)

Abstract

Two types of organic substrates were evaluated for their capacity to retain hydrogen sulfide (H2S), a toxic and corrosive component of biogas. EM-compost and lombricompost were used to pack filters constructed with PVC tubing in 100 cm, 150 cm y 200 cm lengths. The 200 cm long PVC tube packed with EM-compost had the highest retention of H2S.
